Board Members



New folks on board


Meet two new members of our board, as well as our new conference chairperson:

Keith Hadley

Keith Hadley, who joined our board in August, is a graduate of the University of Akron and has previous experience in corporate finance. He currently serves on the marketing committee and the Board of Directors at Children's Hunger Alliance, another statewide nonprofit organization, and is the head boys varsity soccer coach at West High School and coaches his son’s travel soccer team, too. Keith and his wife live in Dublin with their son, who has TS and loves soccer and cats.

Kyle Rose

Kyle Rose, who joined our board in November, has worked in special education since 1989. He has worked in the classroom with various age groups. He is currently a school administrator in a facility for children with Developmental Disabilities and Emotional Disturbance. Kyle and his family live in the Cleveland area. He and his wife have three children. His son, Charlie, has been diagnosed with TS and ADHD. Charlie is an avid reader and wants to develop his own comic.

Becky Landy

Becky Landy is our new conference chair. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University. She was employed by Battelle Memorial Institute for 22 years before deciding to leave the professional world to become a full-time mother. Since leaving Battelle, she has been a very active volunteer at her sons’ school, has done volunteer work for TSA, the Adventures for Wish Kids, and was a Cub Scout Leader for eight years. She lives in Hilliard with her husband and two sons.


Susan Stull - President

Susan is the parent of two children with special needs.  Both of her children, ages 16 and 13, have Tourette's Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and her oldest son also has Asperger Syndrome.  She is a graduate of Kent State University and the University of Akron, and has been an advocate for children with Autism and Tourette's for the past ten years. She joined the board in November, 2006, and has been an in-service provider for TSA for the past five years.  She lives in Medina with her husband and sons, and one cat with OCD.

Nancy McDonald - Vice-President

Nancy McDonald is a Licensed Social Worker who became involved as an employee and volunteer for TSA of Ohio in 1993, several years after a son was diagnosed with TS. For the past 11 years, she has served in various volunteer capacities for the association. Currently, she is vice-president of the board and serves as an in-service provider and area rep in the Cincinnati area. She is employed full-time at Xavier University. She is proud to report that her son, diagnosed with TS at age 3, recently received his bachelor’s degree with a 3.5 GPA.

Karen Hartman - Treasurer

Karen Hartman is the Treasurer for TSA of Ohio. She is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated in 1993 from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She has been employed with Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio since 1992. She has worked in various departments at Battelle to include Billing and Receivables, Internal Audit and Corporate Accounting. Karen has been a member of our board of directors since 2002 and we are grateful for her financial expertise. She lives in Columbus with her husband and two daughters and their dog.

Sandy Bowen - Member-at-Large

Sandy has been a stalwart with the TSA of Ohio for many years. She and her husband, Richard, have coordinated the Central TSA of Ohio Support Group in Columbus, and continue to host regular meetings. Sandy has also conducted in-services at schools throughout the area.

Bruce Holtgren

Bruce Holtgren has had Tourette's his whole life, but didn't realize it until nine years ago, when he was almost 40. Since then, he has been busy reading and learning all he can about it. He has been active in support groups in the Cincinnati area, including coordinating two such groups for adults with TS. He joined the TSA of Ohio board in February 2007. Bruce is a newspaper copy editor and works at The Cincinnati Enquirer. His goal concerning Tourette's is to help the world at large better understand it. Bruce is our newsletter editor and part-time writer and photographer. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife of 11 years, Kathy Schwartz, and their two cats.

Dorene Shoff

Dorene Shoff has also been active in TSA of Ohio for many years. She joined the Board of Directors in February 2007 and is our Volunteer Coordinator. Dorene is the Summit County Support Group Leader for the Greater Akron area and has been holding this position for many years. She has helped numerous individuals and families in her area deal with this disease, as well as help many other Suupport Group Leaders get started in their areas. Along with her son who has TS, she is promoting public awareness for TS throughout the country. She and her son live in Copley, Ohio
